Admissions Policies

ADMISSIONS POLICIES
St. John's College is administratively independent from the University of Hong Kong and has its own admission policy.

All applicants are required to complete the College's application form through the online platform. Shortlisted applicants will be invited for interview.

Selection criteria are merit-based; whether the applicants and the College share the similar belief and values will be taken into consideration. The candidate's potential, not merely prior attainment, is also crucial.

St. John's is a diverse and close-knit community. We welcome students from all different ethnic, social, religious and economic backgrounds. There is no cap for any specific ethnic group.

ADMISSIONS PROCESS
1. All applicants must submit their application through our online platform. If you have applied via the HKU CEDARS platform, please ensure you also complete our application process.

2. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a Round 1 interview, which will be held online. If a candidate advances to the next round but is unable to attend in person, the interview can be conducted via video conference.

3. Candidates will receive their Round 1 results within two weeks of their interview. Successful candidates will advance to the final round.

4. We review our applications on a rolling basis, with decisions based on each candidate’s submitted materials and interview performance. We encourage you to apply early for the best consideration.

5. Our admission process is separate from other residential halls and colleges at the University of Hong Kong. Applying to St. John’s College will not impact your applications elsewhere.

REMARKS
NEW HKU STUDENTS (FULL-TIME DEGREE AND EXCHANGE PROGRAMME)
All prospective students are welcome to submit their applications even before they have received any conditional or confirmed offer from HKU.

CURRENT AND RETURNING HKU STUDENTS
The application is open to all current and returning HKU students, who are not our residential members for the academic year.

TIMELINE AND UPDATES
As we process applications on a rolling basis, we are unable to provide exact timelines for interviews or results, as these are conducted and released in stages. We appreciate your patience and understanding throughout the process.
