Undergraduate Common Room
UG Common Room
The UG Common Room (often referred as CR / JCR as in Junior CR by students) is located on the ground floor of the UG Marden Wing.
It is widely used by St. Johnians for leisure and activities like Karaoke night and Diwali Night.
Initially opened as a Dining Hall in 1955, it was converted into a CR in 1979 and was renovated in 2019. The new timeline installation not only displays how the College has evolved throughout its history, but also marks the beginning of a new page of a St. John's that embraces diversity with an internationalised student cohort.
The new rooms include the Band Room and the College Archives Repository. Some of the other new facilities in the CR include a piano, a vending machine and a newspaper rack with various magazines, newspapers and publications.
Postgraduate Common Room
PG Common Room
The PG Common Room is located on the second floor of the PG Wong Chik Ting Wing.
Apart from the shared kitchen and pantry, newspapers and the TV are also available in the co-working area.
Festive events are held there; the Harry Potter-themed Christmas meet up which was organised by the PG Students Association was one of the highlights.
Billiard Room
Billiard Room
The Billiard Room is located on the first floor of Marden Wing. It was renovated and opened in 2019.
The new Billiard Room consists of multiple spacious rooms that are suitable for social activities, including TVs, a Billiard Table and a few functional rooms (namely Unity, Aquila and Balcony).
It was set up as a student common room in 1955, then was turned into a billiard room in 1979 when the New Wing Aw Boon Haw Wing was established.
College Library
College Library
The College Library, also known as Lee Foundation Library, is located on the first floor of Liang Chi Hao Centre. The "Idea Room" (please refer to the second image) is for group discussions.
For further information, please feel free to visit the website managed by the student-led Library Committee.
The commitment to systematically managing the books and improving the library's user experience for fellow St. Johnians from these book-lovers is very much appreciated.
Chapel of Epiphany
Chapel of Epiphany
The Chapel is located on the fourth floor of the Liang Chi Hao Centre, and is right opposite to the College Office.
The College's Anglican Tradition
St. John's College was established in the Anglican tradition with an ecumenical outlook to serve a wider community. It is based on a Christian faith that transcends difference in race, nationality, skin colour, gender and social backgrounds.
As a modern and inclusive community we welcome students and staff of all faiths and of none.
Purpose of the Chapel
The Chapel was initially built for Christian worship. It may also be used for a variety of purposes, including the rehearsing and performing of concerts and plays, piano playing, or as a quiet place to take time out in a busy day.
All students, College members and their guests are welcome to this tranquil space.
